20 × 30 inches | Oil on canvas | Gift | Completed in August 2021.
When I first started painting, I offered to create a painting for my daughter as a birthday gift. Her response was, “Hmm, Mum… you know I’m particular about what I hang on my walls!”
I hoped this one would pass the test.
The painting is based on a family walk at Kent Street Weir on a hot October day in 2014. The playground was too warm to enjoy, so we wandered along the shaded boardwalk instead. When little Mia ran ahead, her big brother Jaden was sent to catch up with her and gently slow her down.
It captured a simple moment of care between siblings – and thankfully, my daughter loved the painting. It now hangs in the entry of her home.
