60 × 20 inches | Oil on canvas | Gift | Completed in 2021.
This painting was inspired by a family trip to Broome in 2005. During a tour, our guide encouraged us to take in “all the colours of Broome” – the rich red earth, turquoise water, white sand and endless blue sky. It was a scene I never forgot.
Wanting to challenge myself, I painted this entirely with a palette knife. At the time, the palette knife and I were still getting acquainted, and I kept wanting to add every tiny detail! Looking back, I’m pleased with how it came together.
This painting was given to my son and daughter-in-law as a Christmas gift.
