One day, while standing on the seventh tee at Whaleback Golf Course and looking across the pond towards the third green, I noticed the beautiful, clear reflection of the trees in the still water. I took a photograph and started painting it not long afterwards.
My teacher suggested I shouldn’t have the large tree trunk framing the left side of the painting, but on this occasion I decided to trust my own instinct. I loved the colours and textures in the bark and felt the tree was a feature in its own right.
I’m glad I kept it.
