After including our little dog in my previous painting, Beach Walk, Yanchep, I found myself thinking, “How cute!”
Then I remembered this family photo, taken on Christmas Day in 2021. My daughter, Robyn, somehow managed to get all the family dogs sitting (more or less!) on the bench Anthony had made. I thought it would make a fun painting – and something a little different from my usual subjects.
It also turned out to be the most time-consuming painting I’ve completed. Being a detail-loving realist and painting eight very different dogs takes patience!
From left to right are Juddy, Emily, Bobby, Chewie (short for Chewbacca!), George, Soxy (look for the one white foot), Millie and Winston Bishop.
P.S. This is from the person who always said, “I don’t do dogs!”
