We spent a couple of days in Busselton earlier in the year and went on a few trips specifically looking for photos of waves breaking over rocks.
Of course, when you’re actually looking for waves, the water decides to be very calm! Even Canal Rocks wasn’t giving us much to work with.
We finally struck lucky at the little lookout on the road into Yallingup, where there were plenty of waves rolling in over the rocks.
Of all the photos I took that day, this was the wave I fell in love with – and the one I wanted to paint.
