Another outing pursuing a waterfall during a winter stay down south in Yallingup.
I loved the red rocky turret and all the different colours and striations in the rock, with the water flowing over and around them. As usual, I got a little carried away trying to faithfully capture every detail I could see – a habit I keep saying I’m going to overcome!
This painting also holds a great family memory of the walk to the falls. The 2 km or so on the way there wasn’t too bad, and the kids even enjoyed sliding down a sand hill along the way. Coming back was another story. The long, steep, sandy track we’d walked down as we approached the falls now had to be negotiated uphill.
Our 86-year-old had a bit of a struggle, but being quite fit, he made it back up – and so did I. 😊
So if this one never sells, I won’t be too disappointed. It will always remind me of that day.
